They say there is no such thing as a truly random shuffle if that shuffle is generated by a computer.
In 2006, my Porsche designed Lacie hard drive failed. I used data retrieval software to salvage the files. Most were fully recovered but a handful came back dramatically scrambled.
I was intrigued by the unintentional patterns created by the "failed recoveries." They are a byproduct of my original photographic compositions (many of which came from a documentary project in South Africa in 2004), mechanical malfunction and unknown algorithms.
