Watt or Fall is a new book of photographs by Kate Joyce. It reimagines Frank Lloyd Wright's iconic Fallingwater through a single passage from Samuel Beckett's novel "Watt". Bridging architecture and literature, interiority and exteriority—with Wright's insistence on living in nature and Beckett's insistence on living in language—artist Kate Joyce explores how nature, architecture, and language live in photography.
Watt or Fall was created through participation in the Fallingwater Institute Artist-in-Residence Program 2024-25, its publication is funded in part by the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts, and you!
